The thickness helps to spread out the pressure from you hand and also to allow your fingers to depress into it a little helping you to grip it as you spread the wax. When I first used this foam applicator pad the first thing I noticed and liked about it is how thick it is and how both sides are smooth and flat. This wax is intended to be applied by hand using the included polyfoam applicator pad. This means you need a finishing wax and Blackfire BlackICE is a finishing wax perfect for this project car. What you need to maximize any type of finish, be it a single stage or a clearcoated finish is a wax that can bring out the deepest, darkest, wettest looking shine and this means a highly refined wax that does not contain any type of abrasives, cleaners or dulling solvents. Single stage black paint in my opinion has the potential to look deeper and darker than any clearcoated black paint because there's nothing between your eyes and the pigmented coating of paint. Unlike a clearcoated car, when you're working on single stage paint you're actually working on the paint itself, not a secondary clear layer over the colored layer. I wanted to test this new wax out and just by chance I had the perfect candidate car in need of a show car makeover, a rare, 1987 Monte Carlo SS with single stage black paint. Blackfire chemists state they have pioneered a "color-charging" process to increase the waxes darkening effect making it perfect for black and dark colored cars. Supposedly it's good for 5 months.Review: BLACKFIRE BlackICE Hybrid Montan Sealant Waxīlackfire recently introduced a brand new wax called BlackICE, which is a hybrid wax using a blend of highly refined Carnauba Wax blended with highly refined Montan wax to create to create a super high quality finishing wax for paint in new or excellent condition or for paint that has been polished to perfection. This stuff is a keeper as far as I'm concerned. Great shine, and in the direct sun the paint has a nice glow that will blind you if you look at it too much. I've go to say the results are excellent. It actually comes off very easily, constantly turning the towel to get a new piece of towel every section of the car. By the time I got through with the application it was time to start removal with a mf towel. Using a microfiber towel, I started with one side of the hood and worked completely around the car, applying the wax as directed, very thinly. Washed and dried the car, and since Zaino and Blackfire are both polymer based, I just applied the Blackfire wax over the layers of Zaino Z-5. It's been clayed and polished with swirl remover polish with a Cyclo 4" dual action polisher. The paint on my XLR is almost perfect, no swirls, holograms, light scratches. I read about the BF wax about a week ago and decided to give it a try. Was and still am amazed at the shine and pop Zaino gave me. I've been a user of Zaino products for years.
